Opening hours ?

How would you tag a lift gate that is only open from 05:00 to 21:00 ? Also, how would you tag a gate that is one-way during that time, and the other way from 21:00 to 05:00 ?

default access?

I think the default access=no is not good for lift_gate. Some people are mapping railway boom barries with this tag and of couse access=yes should be the default.

One tag for all boom barriers?

Maybe we should use the same tag for booms lifted up and booms swinged to the side when allowing traffic. Including other configurations sharing the concept of having a boom as a barrier over the road. Barrier=Boom_barrier could be a good name. Or maybe barrier=boom, but that as the barrier-key contains both passageways and fixed barriers it could be confused with a fixed boon. (Maybe even group together all gates in one barrier=gate) I got to think about it when seeing the barrier=swing_gate in Proposed features/New barrier types. i would call that a boom_barrier. /Johan Jönsson 18:34, 1 September 2011 (BST)

lift gate when it is not pivoted around a point?

Sometimes there are bars barring the way, which have to be lifted manually and are not pivoted. Does the tag apply (i.e. must the definition be changed) or shall a new tag be invented? There are also (automatic) guillotine gates, viz https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/48421/animal-guillotin-gates with gate:*=guillotine (unfortunately basically gate:type=guillotine). ---- Kovposch (talk) 05:14, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
