Duplication of existing tag?

Wouldn't that be the same as amenity=cafe? --Lyx 03:16, 19 August 2010 (BST)

"amenity=cafe (café) is for a generally informal place with sit-down facilities selling beverages and light meals and/or snack.", so amenity=cafe may not focus on or even sell coffee, cuisine=coffee_shop says that the cafe focuses on coffee. Aharvey (talk) 11:24, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Is this suitable for Dutch "Coffee-Shops"?

It is unclear to me whether the term "Coffee-Shop" would be applicable to Dutch "Coffee-Shops", of which the primary use is not to drink coffee but is used to legally acquire drugs.

This tag should not be used for that, it should only be for "... a location is most known for its coffee, even if it may serve other types of food.". Aharvey (talk) 11:25, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

restriction

Why "Only use this tag if the first and main thing people would go to a place would be coffee - and it's not amenity=cafe already."? I encountered it on several amenity=cafe and while not very useful it is not a wrong tagging that should be changed. Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:14, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Resolved: looks like this text no longer appears. --Aharvey (talk) 11:27, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
