Excellent Idea For a Tag

Agree to the need for a generic shop=beauty tag. There are many different shops in a town that would fall under a generic "beauty" title. (keeping it generic like this is most useful to GPS devices that Open Street Maps can be compiled on) I further suggest that use of the Key:description to specify a shops specific service. (This will allow flexibility as many different beauty shops have different specialties)

Ex: A tanning salon should be tagged as:
name=The Tan Shop
shop=beauty
addr:housenumber=1234
addr:street=Fun Street
addr:city=Goose Creek
addr:postcode=29445
addr:country=US
opening_hours = Mo 10:00-12:00,12:30-15:00; Tu-Fr 08:00-12:00,12:30-15:00; Sa 08:00-12:00
description=The Tan Shop provides all you need to get that great tan in one of our 10 tanning beds.

Salon or beauty

I think a place that provides services such as tanning or nails would be considered a salon, and should be tagged as such. (I suppose we don't have a service=beauty tag?)

Places that I would tag as shop=beauty would be places that just sell beauty items, like perfumes and lotions, such as Bath & Body Works or MAC Cosmetics. --Kate (talk) 03:52, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Waxing, hair removal, depilation

Would this tag also includes waxing / hair removal service? I could not find any tag for such shops. --Oligo (talk) 17:19, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Why shop?

A shop that provides personal beauty services like a nail salon, tanning salon, shiatsu massage and or other spa services.

Sounds more like a service than a place selling beauty products.--AndiG88 (talk) 01:13, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

hairdresser:for and other added by rftm

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Tag%3Ashop%3Dbeauty&type=revision&diff=1574953&oldid=1556728 - from looking at taginfo: hairdresser:for seems to not be used even one. Why it is added to this page? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 22:35, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
