Purpose

This tag is related to Resolved, but it meant to be placed at the top of sections on talk pages and other discussions, to indicate when a discussion has been moved elsewhere. It serves as a reminder for editors not to add any more to the discussion, except at its new location, unless strictly necessary.

Usage

Place the following under the topic heading on a talk page:

Moved to Talk:Archive JohnDoe ~~

(The 2= is necessary if there are any "=" characters in the message, for example if your raw signature contains "=". Otherwise you can drop it.)

To make an additional comment explaining why the discussion was moved, and/or to sign so that others know who marked the thread as resolved:

Moved to Talk:ArticleArticles have been updated with 2007 data, and are now in sync. --JohnDoe 00:26, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

Example

Chelonia
Talk:Turtle
Chelonia currently redirects to Turtle, but Chelonia is the monotypic genus containing the Green Sea Turtle.
Shouldn't it be Chelonian-->Turtle, and Chelonia-->Green Sea Turtle? OneUser123 2 July 2005 05:08 (UTC)

:The Help Desk is for questions about using Wikipedia; this discussion really belongs on Talk:Turtle. AnotherUser789 00:26, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
