I'm currently mostly adding smaller streets, footpaths, and other details to the area around Meanwood Road in north Leeds where I live. I also sometimes add details in the Cheriton area near Folkestone, when I visit my parents there (I grew up in the area, so I have some useful local knowledge).

I don't have a car or bike, so all my surveying is done on foot. It's a slow process mapping streets as a pedestrian, but I'm able to add a lot more detail than you'll find on most other maps.

My GPS logger is a cheap BT-747 device. I've written some crufty software for it to download the binary data and convert it to GPX under Linux. I can run the Windows software under wine, but it's so buggy that it's not really useable to get all the data off.

I originally bought a NaviGPS device, but dropped it a few weeks later busting the screen.
