Mapping
I have been interested in OSM since 2007 but only actively contributing since mid 2008.
I have a Garmin eTrex H (and an iPhone, but I find the Garmin more accurate).
For editing I use JOSM on Ubuntu.
Projects
Filling in gaps wherever I happen to be.
- Some tweaks in Coventry where I am based
- Various minor roads added between the south of Spain and the north of England
- Barnard Castle (County Durham) is virtually all my work
- Sitges (Spain) is virtually all my work
Background
I am a software developer with a PhD in computing science. I have been a supporter of the open source movement since going to a talk by Richard Stallman in 1988. Right now I am involved with a start-up company which will be using OSM for commercial purposes. Of course we will be contributing the new data we collect back to OSM for the benefit of everyone!
I attended the State of the Map in Limerick (where I nearly broke my leg) and Amsterdam and will be going to this year's in Girona.
