Welcome

OpenStreetMap is a free street level map of the world, created by an ever growing community of mappers. Anyone can join this community and start editing OpenStreetMap.

Over one million contributors make OpenStreetMap possible. The main way that users participate is by editing the map. This guide will walk you through the basics of OpenStreetMap and your first edit. We'll also touch on other ways of getting involved including developing our underlying software and joining our humanitarian efforts.

Before you can contribute to OpenStreetMap you will need to sign up and agree to share your contributions under OpenStreetMap's license. This ensures that the data stays free for everyone and that changes can be attributed to specific sources.

Congratulations, you are now a member of a very large community of contributors to OpenStreetMap! You are now ready to add some data to the project so click 'next' to go to the next page.
