I've done occasional mapping on and off for a couple of years. I live in Naremburn (Sydney/lower north shore) but spend most weekends in the Blue Mountains.

My main interest is being able to use the data to help create bushwalking maps. To that end I'm loading bush tracks, and tracing cliffs and creeks. The new NearMap data is excellent for this.

I'm also trying to complete the map of the Blue Mountains streets. For my own benefit (and for others) the areas I've done are:

  • south Hazelbrook, between Railway Parade/Hilltop Ave and Valley Road, including South Lawson Fire Trail, but not the bush tracks
  • north Lawson, between St Bernards Drive and Queens Rd, including the bush tracks around Empire Pass
  • north Hazelbrook, between Queens Rd and Clearview Pde, not including bush tracks

Other areas that appear to be complete

  • south Lawson, except east of Honour Ave

Perhaps I should create a project?

I used to use a Garmin Geko 201, but now use a Garmin Etrex H.

Early on I tidied up and named the missing streets in the Naremburn area.
