Welcome to OpenStreetMap

Hello Alexhunter, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Here are some tips to help you make the most from OSM:

  • Please don't use copyrighted maps as a data source for OpenStreetMap edits
  • To meet other mappers from your country, add these lines to your wiki userpage:
    [[Category:Users in your country|Alexhunter]]
    [[Category:Users in your city|Alexhunter]]
  • Join your regional mailing list
  • Take a look at the Beginners' guide
  • And if you have any questions, look at the FAQ page, or just ask!

Have fun mapping!

Good to meet you

Hi Alex. Good to meet you yesterday at London/Summer 2008 Mapping Party Marathon/2008-05-28

I must get round to writing out some more useful beginner instructions specifically for the NaviGPS. I'll do this on the NaviGPS page, or linked from it at some point. In the meantime feel free to email me directly. Or in general there's lots of Contact channels. As Andy was saying, there's a 'newbies' mailing list. The forum and chat room are pretty good places to fire quick questions too

...or maybe we should be firing questions at you! We have all sorts of legal quandries related to licensing which you may be able to help untangle. If you want to go down that rabbit hole, this blog post gives a good summary: The licence: where we are, where we’re going.
