Geo referencing in openstreetmap

HI

I want to show an image on open street map on particular value of lat, lon so that on zoom-in and zoom-out my image should remain at same position. it is a satellite image of indian region and i want to show fix it on map of india.

Same thing i have implemented in OpenMap(bbn technologies) but now i want to shift my project to openstreetmap.

Is it possible in Open street map and how?
