Traffic islands

Ok, let's talk about the inclusion of landuse=traffic_sign on the page about traffic calming features.
As I see it, the crossing=island key is the direct counterpart to traffic_calming=island: Both are tagged on the node, and there is a strict separation regarding which is used when. It is also an approved feature. So it makes sense to mention it in order to prevent people from misapplying traffic_calming=island to pedestrian crossings.
The proposed landuse=traffic_island tag, on the other hand, is basically a more detailed version of crossing=island. It doesn't replace crossing=island, and has nothing to do with traffic calming. So it would make sense to mention it in the documentation of crossing=island as a possible next mapping step (which is already the case), but I see little reason for its addition to the traffic calming documentation.
I hope we can come to an agreement here. --Tordanik 12:28, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

I'm asuming you meant landuse=traffic_island in the first sentence. Yes, the keys used around traffic islands need better documentation. I am not sure if I am understanding things correctly. I don't fully understand which can be applied to points only, which to areas only, and which can be applied to either. I think the best would be some schematic drawings of complicated crossing showing exactly what is tagged how. I've seen a few very complicated crossing in the Dublin city center... -- Pbb (talk)

internet_cafe

Thanks for the comment about Net cafe's (or was it Cafe nets?). That was an oversight on my part, but now I can't find it to correct it.
