Railway station, but also other public transport (light rail, subway, other connecting station) will meet here. For normal tram and bus stops use railway=tram_stop and highway=bus_stop. Only for big one like connecting station the railway=station.
How to Map
Add a node to the railway=rail way at the position where the station can be found and tag it with railway=station and name=*
Instead of the railway=rail tag you can also use this tag for railway=light_rail, railway=tram, railway=subway, railway=monorail
You could also add uic_ref=number the unique code for railway stations as registered with the UIC. You can find the number on this german homepage.
