OpenStreetMap has received several awards for the achievements of the mapping community.

2019

FSF president Richard M. Stallman presented the 'Award for Projects of Social Benefit' to Kate Chapman, chairperson of the OpenStreetMap Foundation and co-founder of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), during the LibrePlanet 2019 conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

OpenStreetMap was awarded the Geospatial Content Company of the Year 2012 award by Geospatial World.

OpenStreetMap won 2 out of 6 Linux awards for outstanding contributions to Open Source in the categories Most Innovative Open Source Project and Outstanding Contribution to Linux and Open Source, awarded by Linux New Media AG at CeBIT 2009.
