Description
English: Crannog and wood-turning, Irish National Heritage Park. This is a reconstruction of a Crannog, a settlement on an artificial island in a lake or estuary. The photo includes a econstruction of a wood-turning lathe turned by a pedal and a cord around the wooden rod. There may have been similar sites in Ireland back to 4500 B.C. but most are early medieval. For an extant example see 799331. For more photos in the park, see https://www.geograph.org.uk/gallery/irish_national_heritage_park_county_wexford_10033 .
