I propose to remove this diagram from the railway page, as it suggests that even in detailed station mapping the railway=station tag should be added to a node. It also appears to be incomplete as not all depicted areas are labeled, therefore it is confusing. --Dieterdreist (talk) 08:18, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

I have improved the diagram now to show the area variant as well, and have added the missing labels. --Dieterdreist (talk) 08:45, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
There is nothing wrong with mapping a station with a node. In fact, in larger, more detailed stations it can be the better option as it can be placed accurately, central to the public's perspective, and where it won't render clash with other entities.--DaveF63 (talk) 12:02, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
You are talking about placing a label, but usually you would want from the database to be able to tell you the extent of the station, the entrances, which buildings belong to it, etc., all of which a node cannot satisfy. --Dieterdreist (talk) 23:25, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

Confused image

Why does this image conflate two independent tag schemas? It only leads to confusion & mapping errors. For example the creator has got confused - The railway=station tag doesn't require a train=yes and the if the mapped as an area leader line should extend to the purple dashed line.--DaveF63 (talk) 12:02, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

Dieterdreist has exploded all the text in this SVG into individual paths! Please, Please don't anyone else do that. It makes it a real PitA to amend. --DaveF63 (talk) 18:32, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
I "converted" outlines back to text. Although due to errors in the .png renderer I also uploaded an outlined version after that to make it look as it's supposed to look like. –Gymate (talk) 21:23, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
