Proposal

A proposal to create/use shop=number_plate to represent a shop that primarily sells number plates / license numbers.

Rationale

No documentation and no description so far. It seems some mappers are using different value names (singular vs. plural and BE vs. AE).

Examples

https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/1398452428 - Maqalf signs & plates

Tagging

It can be tagged as shop=number_plate

Useful combinations

  • name=* - The primary name: in general, the most prominent signposted name or the most common name in the local language(s).
  • addr=* - "addr" is the prefix for several addr:* keys to describe addresses.
  • contact:phone=* - A telephone number associated with the object.
  • contact:website=* - Specifying the link to the official website for a feature.
  • opening_hours=* - Describes when something is open or closed. There is a specific standard format for this data.

Applies to

Similar to other shop=*, the tag is placed on a node node or area polygon building outline representing the business.

Rendering

No peculiar rendering is currently proposed, but ideas are welcome.

Features/Pages affected

The tag shop=number_plate proposal replaces the starting distribution of other variants, e.g. like shop=license_plate, shop=license_plates and shop=car_licence_plate.
