The Ring Road or the Inner Ring Road (relation 3124618) is a toll-free circular primary route. The route is entirely level with traffic light junctions, except for one underpass at Euston Square. The speed limit for the route is 30 mph, except for a northbound section of Park Lane (A4202), which is 40 mph.

It has the motor_vehicle=designated tag because it is the smallest circular trip possible without entering the London Congestion Charge. It is not the boundary of the London Congestion Charge because there are service roads into private premises (such as a petrol station), and slip roads connecting to roads outside the zone (such as the anti-clockwise connection to the northbound A41), all of which are toll-free.

Notice to routing software developers

The London Congestion Charge is now on the live map:

  1. If your routing software supports toll warnings, driving into the area within relation 3045928 or any similar area tagged with type=toll must trigger a toll warning.
  2. If your routing software supports avoiding tolls, routes that avoid tolls must avoid the driving into the area within relation 3045928 or any similar area tagged with type=toll.
  3. If your routing software supports multiple modes as well, the toll warnings apply only to all motor vehicles except motorcycles, taxi or bus.
