Magic carpet, also known as carpet lift, is a type of surface lift installed at ski areas to transport skiers and snowboarders up the hill. It is usually used by small children. Technically, this should not belong to Aerialway category, but it seems logical to be placed here with the other ski lifts instead of creating a new tag for it.

This is just one classification among several cable/wire based lifts/transportation types listed under Key:aerialway. See also WikiProject Piste Maps.

How to map

Draw a way along the route, and set this aerialway=magic_carpet tag on this way. The direction of the way should indicate the typical direction of travel when using the carpet lift. (Usually the ascending direction, so in that case, the way should point from the valley station to the mountain station.)

Additional features

Position nodes node at either end of the carpet. These nodes might be tagged with aerialway=station.
