Not so sure if we need to import this stuff. Perhaps if were using a plugin for it, then it would make sence todo so.

We currently (as far as i know) use SRTM data, and it's shown on the OSM Cyclemap. It is shown on the Ibycus Topo and it might be slightly different than the SRTM Data. But I think for now, OSM doesnt contain contour lines.

However, having a full Canada map, of just these countour lines at a decent interval would prove benificial. (I think Ibycus Topo is 100m contours)--acrosscanadatrails 09:47, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I agree and think users will find this data better resolution than SRTM, though boundaries between provinces may not be as smooth --Spatialguru
Consensus to date has always been that trying to stuff large quantities of elevation into OSM is not appropriate and that it is better kept separately as with SRTM --TomH
So having it as part of the Plugin set of data would be more appropriate --acrosscanadatrails 21:28, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Well if I knew what the "Plugin set of data" was then I might be able to say... --TomH 00:23, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
