I got the physical subway lines (not the stations) all added, and added pretty much every one-way street and traffic light below Canal Street. --NE2 17:13, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Wiki takes Manhattan

Before the Wikimania starts in Washington, nearly 100 Wikipedians will be in New York from the evening of Friday July 6 to the morning of Monday July 9, 2012:

I would like to see also some OpenstreetMapers there, especially at the Wiki World's Fair:

Both projects (OSM and Wikipedia) have so much common, that it would be interesting to come in stronger contact. --Kolossos 11:20, 1 July 2012 (BST)

Mapping status update

I see User:Chrismcnally put lots of mapping status information (assessing levels of completeness in a table) on this page, but that was back in mid 2009. I could be wrong, but I think all of the points listed there are fairly basic, and happily completeness levels have progressed a lot in the 6 years since! Probably the best thing to do is remove that now to avoid confusion, and by way of congratulation to those who've worked on it. I think I will do that now.

Even better might be for somebody to do a refreshed assessment of what needs mapping, however it's going to go out of date, particularly if you try to give percentages. See what we did on the London#OSM Coverage. Basically limited ourselves to some basic description of the kinds of data that might be missing (but even then it sometimes feels out of date and needs rewording).

The other important thing I'd suggest you copy from London is... put the community/event links above all of this info. Will do that now
