Proposal talk:Conference Centre

This should be "centre", not "center". British spelling is common in OSM, compare: amenity=community_centre. I'm moving this proposal. --Head 11:01, 31 August 2010 (BST)

Distinguishing from tourism=hotel

As noted under tourism=hotel, hotels often provide conference facilities. I think some guidance as to when to consider an establishment primarily as a hotel, and when primarily as a conference centre would be useful. Difficult cases would arise with hotels well out in the country.

I would say that tourism=hotel should trump a conference center in almost all cases. It would be nice to be able to specify if the hotel would also include conference facilities, but it is more likely for the hotel name to be used when referring to it. A node could be placed in the location of the conference center within the hotel if it has a separate name from the hotel or the tag could be applied to a building if it is associated with the hotel but detached from it.--ItalianMustache (talk) 20:31, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Exposition Centres

The definition contrasts a conference centre with an exposition centre. That seems to me to be an implicit proposal to define a tag for exposition centres (amenity=exposition_centre). -- Hadw (talk) 17:03, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Status update

It seems this proposal is accepted and is in use: amenity=conference_centre So the status should get changed. Ahangarha (talk) 12:27, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
