Approving the wrong word

Deprecating departure_boards=delay is still necessary to avoid propagating the mistake in language. In fact, this val is not "de facto". Only 478 (0.23%) https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/departures_board#values instances. The opposition is concentrated on *=timetable and *=analog. They can be solved somehow. --

I'm aware of it. I will propose it in a separate proposal, after I'm done with this one.
I noticed Key:departures_board already includes "frequency" for departures_board=timetable. This means departures_board=delay is a duplicate that should be removed straightforward. --- Kovposch (talk) 05:17, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Passenger Information Display is Correct

Passenger information displays show departures, arrivals and any other message that the operator wishes to communicate. Airport Arrivals halls tend to show arrivals. Departure halls show departures. Both show other messages. Most GB mainline stations show arrivals and departures and other messages - e.g. weather conditions affecting services, failures, strikes. passenger information display is corrrect - sub-tags can be added to differentiate if needed. --TonyS (talk) 13:12, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Passenger Information Display is Necessary for Ground Truth

In some or many countries there is always a printed timetable on display because this is a legal requirement. A huge example for this is Germany, but I have surveyed that pattern as well in many other European countries. So the essential information is whether there is a passenger information display or not. Also, these displays almost also can show a mix of realtime departures, scheduled time departures, and other messages, depending on what the operator's software delivers.

Using passenger_information_display conveys that information in a single tag, while departures_board not only would need multiple tags for that simple information. On top of that, it will confuse people that they have to forget about the printed timetable to map the display at all. --drolbr (talk)

State of this proposal

Hey, I just wanted to ask what the state of this proposal is. Is it planned to go forward on it? I think a clarification of the mapping of this kind of information would be useful. Personally, I would be in favor of this proposal. I do see the problems stated above, but I do not think that there is that much value in having a different word for the tag that we keep two distinct tagging ways for the same thing alive --Profgreenington (talk) 17:28, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I just saw your comment. The proposal is currently abandoned. I do not plan to move it forward in the near future. If you want, feel free to edit it and move it forward. Dimitar155 (talk) 22:58, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
