Motel

I have hitherto tagged this as hotel. I usually see them as motels with a more discret entrance, and sometimes a notice about lower age limit for occupants (usually 18 years). Any such restrictions should be made available in tags that can be used on any form of hotels, as I have encountered restriction even on "normal" hotels. --Skippern 01:39, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

IMHO if a hotel has such type of restriction, it's not a "normal" hotel. Here in Brazil this is kinda common because of the society, but they're clearly *not* "normal" hotels. They're also different from the original concept of motel (hotel for drivers), hence the tag. --Nighto 05:05, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Motel is a specialized type of hotel. It have restrictions for age, decoration and structure very diferent from a common hotel. This tag is very pertinent. --Phractal 13:50, 01 August 2009 (UTC)

Actually, most hotels have some sort of restriction, such as checkin hour, accepted form of payment, minimum/maximum length of stay, dress code in restaurants, accepting/rejecting visitors up to the room, and so on. I have been told cash is not accepted, or no credit card, people visiting me while living on the hotel have had to wait in the reseption area, while on other they have come up to the room, I have been told to wear a shirt for dinner, in one hotel I had to be fully clothed in the elevator, but could change to beachwear in a room next to the reception. If you think of it, there are restrictions of some sorts on most "normal" hotels. The question should rather be how love hotels should be classified, if they are to be grouped together with i.e. hotels or motels, or a new tag is needed. --Skippern 08:13, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Despite similar name, motel in Brazil is not really a kind of place we can rest or stay for a day or more, alone or with a family. It's a place where people make love. The room, the decoration, the bed, the movies on TV are all related to sex. That's the objective of this place. I support this proposal. We need a new tag specifically to this. Push this proposal forward

I think maybe it is time to push this proposal forward. There have been no activity here for 5 months, maybe a new reminder on the mailinglist or preparing for vote? --Skippern 14:50, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, in what state is this now? Draft/Proposed/Voting? Seems like voting. --Kslotte 17:47, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

It's already there as amenity=brothel

Not quite the same; a love hotel as described in the proposal only rents out the rooms for couples, whereas a brothel would rent both the room and, ahem, the person. Alv 22:03, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
My wife loves that I bring her to a love hotel from time to time, but would be seriously offended (possibly ending my marriage) if I brought her to a brothel. --Skippern 00:10, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Completely different things. A Love Hotel is a place where you go with your lover, not with a prostitute. --Nighto 12:20, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
