A discussion was initiated on the mailing list. I'll try to summarize the discussion here.

• one positive feedback from Alaska
• one proposed shop=chandler instead, with some support while others mentionned it was a bit old fashionned, and the specific meanting was not in Wiktionnary and probably derived from "Candler" (see wiktionnary)

I added shop=chandler to the possibilities here, even though it seems to me with have a localisation problem here (UK vs US, possibly). I also noticed shop=ship_chandler, which is even linked from Harbour although not much documented either (and the overlap with shop=boat is not resolved either. --TheAnarcat (talk) 13:42, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

Digging a little more into this, shop=chandler have some extra tags associated, like in: http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/337171786 which uses seamark:small_craft_facility:category=chandler. seamark:small_craft_facility:category=* seems to be in use as well, which is confusing to me... seamark:type=small_craft_facility is another such seamark in use. --TheAnarcat (talk) 23:13, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
