How are you going to handle the case where a tourist bus waits at a place which is also a public transport bus stop? This is not a hypothetical question, there is just such a place in my town. --Brian de Ford (talk) 18:21, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

That case can be handled with existing tags: highway=bus_stop+tourist_bus=yes. In my town I have a stop that is not used by public transport buses and neither by Flixbus (that is public transport anyway).

Please clarify what kinds of buses can use these stops

On the Tagging list we have been discussion what tourist_bus=* means. See https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2019-September/048076.html and below.

Could you help clarify? Are these stops to be used by "tour buses" which take tourists around a city in an open-topped bus with an announcer who points out certain landmarks? Or are these for long-distance "coaches"? It needs to be clear when to use this tag instead of amenity=bus_stop. --Jeisenbe (talk) 04:47, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

If it is about "tour buses" (e.g. sightseeing, hop on hop off, etc.), it should also be clear if all tour buses can/do use them or just the buses of a specific operator (or group of operators). --Dieterdreist (talk) 15:25, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
