Proposal talk:Building:château

As mentioned before in the Tagging list, there is already a tag that would in my view cover the French "château": historic=manor. From its use, mainly in Germany, it looks as if it describes a very similar type of building use: historic=manor.

The tagging of a typical château with that tag would be:

building=yes
name=Château Bellevue
historic=manor
man_made=winery
shop=wine
tourism=attraction

Which key (building=* or historic=*) to use for castle, manor etc. may be disputable, but it is quite obvious that châteaux exist all over Europe and elsewhere too, and there are native words for them in almost any language, including English of course. Tag values should be in English, except for free text values such as proper names. --Fkv (talk) 20:38, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
