Talk:Tag:emergency=water tank

I'd suggest using m³ (cubic meters) instead of l (liters) for water_tank:volume for two reasons:

1. I think we should go for SI-units whenever possible in OpenStreetMap. Additionally for this case, the wikipedia [[1]] states that:

   In the International System of Units (SI), the standard unit of volume is the cubic metre (m3).

2. Another argument for having m3 instead of liters is the distribution of values on water_tank:volume on TagInfo [[2]]
   • There are a lot of zeros at the end of values. So the values are hard to read. Stripping them would help everybody.
   • Moreover, a water tank that has got less than 1000l = 1m3 would be of no interest in emergency case, but this POI is marked as emergency-POI. In case it counts in emergency case, one could also write "0.35" for 350l.

There are only 749 tag occurences right now - it would be not the biggest problem to change all of them.

Note: This is my first proposal to this Wiki. How to proceed? Whom to inform? When to change? How to take a final decision?

Includes above ground tanks

I propose making it clear that it includes above ground tanks by changing the text 'A large water basin for a fire department to take water.' to 'A large water basin or tank for a fire department to take water.' and including a photo similar to https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=-37.93622997&lng=145.30965289&z=17&pKey=KcRQ-XafSTnXlPdopuQ3iA&focus=photo&menu=false I waited a while then made the proposed changes to the wiki on 12 Feb 18

How to specifiy this type of tank?
