This is a documentation subpage for Template:Tag2Link compatible.|
It contains usage information, categories and other content or metadata that is not part of the original template.
This page has been labelled for deletion.
The given reason is: remove attempt to duplicate https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Taginfo/Projects in wiki - please delete also https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Template:Tag2Link_compatible.
This normally means the page title is a bad one, and the content has been moved somewhere better. If a page title is vaguely meaningful, the page should perhaps be a redirect, or hold a small summary for historical interest instead. If you disagree with its deletion, please explain why on its talk page.
The page should now be empty apart from this message (as per procedure). The page history shows what used to be on this page, and allows people to rescue an old revision. We may decide to do this, but otherwise a wiki sysop user can delete this page more permanently at some point. In the meantime we should fix any pages linking to here.
- Note: Taginfo and Tag2link are separate projects. Taginfo is generic for all tags, but Tag2link is a specific type of tags used to reference various external databases.
- "Tag2link" was never an attempt to "duplicate" Taginfo which appeared later, and does not do the same thing at all. The real fact is that TagInfo started as an external project to duplicate a few things done in this wiki (documenting tags), but does not support Tag2Link at all (whose purpose is to find relevant link to external references given as values in documented tags).
- This "deletion request" is just anticompetitive (one external project against another one with a different purpose).
- The template implies a specific categorization of these external reference tags here on this wiki for looking for various tags used to indicate external references.
