residential=duplex is a subtag of landuse=residential. It is used to indicate that an area is filled with duplex houses. Duplex houses are 2 houses attached to each other, also called semi-detached houses[1]. This in contrary to single family houses which are detached and terraced houses which are rows of multiple attached houses.
