Barrage de Cambous in the commune of Sainte-Cécile-d'Andorge, ( post code is F30110 and INSEE 30239) situated on the River Gardon d'Alès on the N106 to north of La Grand-Combe in the departement of Gard. in the region Languedoc-Roussillon in southern France. This dam was built in 1957 to generate electricity for the mininf industry in La Grand-Combe. There are two dams across the river in this commune, the one upstream is a Barrage d'éncrêtement de crues- designed to hold back a surge of water during flash flooding. In contrast this dam aims to maintain a constant head of water so the lake always appears full. It is also used for watersports.
