I am putting on this documentation of a tag I am using for other OSMers to understand.
maxheight:marine expresses the free sailing height under obstructing objects such as bridges, power lines, etc.
Examples
- maxheight:marine=42 - free sailing height is 42 m
Note
This tag is new, and still not supported by rendering or routing software. This tag is ment for marine purposes, and for practical reasons put on the objects above the water instad of making artificial lines in the water, which only will make maintenance of the map more complicated, and probably make rendering of symbols in marine maps such as OpenSeaMap very difficult.
"A bridge's clearance is most often noted on charts as measured from the surface of the water to the under side of the bridge at Mean Highest High Water (MHHW) which is the most restrictive clearance. The height of the tide at any time below it's highest point at MHHW will then increase the clearance under the bridge." [1]
This tag was rejected. See Proposed features/clearance
How to Map
Select the
section of a bridge=*, power=line or other overhanging obstruction, and tag with maxheight:marine=* and give the known free sailing clearance as referred in charts, signs on the bridge or warning posted on land.
