Description

A shop where shoes, boots and other footwear can be repaired. These shops sometimes repair other items, such as purses, as well. They are usually very small owner-operated shops.

Rationale

These shops are very useful and common throughout the world. They need their own tag.

The term shoe_repair was chosen instead of term cobbler primarily because it is more common and much more friendly to non-native speakers. It is also less ambiguous since the word cobbler is sometimes used to refer to shops that make custom shoes.

Tagging

Usage

Add a node node tagged shop=shoe_repair in the center of the shop. Larger shops may be mapped as an area area tagged as shop=shoe_repair.

Additional Attributes

Tag Description
name=* The name of the shoe repair shop.
addr:housenumber=* The street address of the shop.
addr:street=* The street the shop is on.
addr:city=* The city the shop is in.
addr:postcode=* The postal code that the shop is in.
source=* Where you got the data.

Rendering

Shoe repair shops should be rendered as a pictogram consisting of a shoe with a hammer above it. They should only be rendered at very high zoom levels.
