Proposal

This proposal will endeavour to create a unified tagging schema for public utility infrastructure which is of interest to some user groups. A particular case is surface infrastructure that impacts upon the safety of cyclists using identified cycling routes e.g. poorly designed stormwater gullies which do not allow safe passage of bicycles.

Rationale

Current tagging options under man_made=* and manhole=* lack specificity for the infrastructure to be represented and have caused confusion for contributors ([1]).

A standardised approach to tagging those elements of civic infrastructure which pose a hazard to some users would allow accessibility routing projects and cycling routing projects to weight for fixed en-route hazards or inconveniences.
