Tagging: opening_hours:visitors=*

Definition: Specify time ranges when outside visitors are allowed into specific facility, e.g. hospital

The tag opening_hours:visitors=* should be used to specify when visitors are allowed into specific facility, e.g. hospital.

Some facilities, for example hospitals, dormitories, nursing homes, summer camps and probably many others have a policy when outside people are allowed to visit facility residents (for example, family members to visit people in a hospital, or parents to visit children in a summer camp). This information is extremely useful, as these time ranges are sometimes really narrow, and should be carefully considered when planning a visit, so there must be a tag for these.

Note that well-known opening_hours=* may not be used here, as it indicates when the facility operate at all (most hospitals, for example, operate 24/7 in fact), while visiting hours is a separate property, and there will even be cases where both opening_hours=* and opening_hours:visitors=* tags are needed (see below).

Tag choice

opening_hours:*=* tags are natural for specifying acceptance hours for specific groups of people and it's somewhat used. *:visitors=* is used sometimes as well. Combined these make a clear tag with straightforward meaning.

Just add opening_hours:visitors=* to an object. Syntax is the same as opening_hours=*.

Real hospital where visitors are allowed from 17:00 to 20:00 on workdays, and from 10:00 to 12:00, 17:00 to 20:00 on weekends:

 opening_hours:visitors=Mo-Fr 17:00-20:00; Sa-Su 10:00-12:00,17:00-20:00

Another one, visitors are allowed from 16:00 to 21:00 on workdays, and from 10:00 to 21:00 on weekends and holidays:

 opening_hours:visitors=Mo-Fr 16:00-21:00; Sa-Su 10:00-21:00; PH 10:00-21:00

A summer camp (Russian), which only (obviously) operates in summer, and parents are welcome to visit on Sundays (likely also taking sleep times into account). Unlike hospitals, this policy is more advisory than mandatory (the site says parents may visit anytime given a call in advance, but the usual visiting day is Sunday), but this information is still useful.
