Proposal

To be used in conjunction with place=*.

Rationale

Special OSM based programs for showing population ranks on the map may become easier to create; and will add more detail on how large the city is.

Examples

For example; Toronto would be tagged "population_rank:country=1"; Winnipeg would be "population_rank:country=7". Brandon, Manitoba would be "population_rank:province=2" and may include "population_rank:country=*"; as well.
