Proposal
Create a specific tag for shops that sell all edible aquatic animals. For a detailed definition of seafood see Wikipedia article on seafood (using the extended "North-American definition" - there including fresh water).
NB: This tagging is not intended for shops selling:
- fish prepared as food. Use amenity=fast_food/amenity=restaurant + cuisine=seafood/cuisine=fish/cuisine=fish_and_chips/... instead
- pet fish. Use shop=pet + pet=fish instead
Rationale
Shops selling seafood are rather common along the shoreline of the sea or lakes. This tag would help to complete the range of shops in this area with a common specialty shop.
Examples
- A shop at the harbour that sells freshly-caught fish
- A permanent stand in a public market hall that sells fish and algae
Tagging
Add a node to the center of the shop or draw an area along the building outline. Tag the node or area with shop=seafood.

Rendering
A simple icon depicting a silhouette of a fish. The fish should not be depicted in a movement (looks like a shop selling living pets) or with a fishing-hook (looks like a fishing place).
Comments
Alternative names during the discussion on the tagging mailinglist were:
- shop=fish - To be easily confused with pet shops selling pet fish or fast_food shops selling prepared fish
- shop=fishmonger - Being understood by communities where the English is close to british English, north american and non-native speakers had problems understanding or found it to sound outdated.
"Seafood" seems to be the term that is best understood (by the users of the mailing list) to be a shop according to the definition of this proposal.
