Using S57 object, and attribute names makes very unreadable tags for users not familiar with S57, and even some users familiar with S57 might see it as confusing. It would be much more desirable to identify which objects/attributes that already have a tagging rule in OSM, and suggest tagging rules for missing objects. --Skippern 23:02, 27 August 2012 (BST)

Causeway

CAUSWY => 'causway' - should that be 'causeway'?

Is there any justification to reinvent and duplicate tags? Especially seamark:name.

Generally tags should not be duplicated. In some cases there may be some justification like different meaning of the land-tag and sea-tag variation. Unfortunately most tags are simply duplicated without any gain. In the case of "name" it might be that "seamark:name" is a pseudorandom string of characters and numbers identifying a single buoy or whatever on official maps. The same feature may have a "popular" name sometimes which would be in name. RicoZ (talk) 13:15, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
