Projects to hack

Please list your project ideas here or add yourself to an existing team based on the topic of your interest.

  • openstreetmap-website Markdown support in changeset discussion and notes - @Srividya
  • josm-mappaint-styles Improve lane and road attributes style - @jothirnadh
  • josm-core Improve conflict resolution dialog - @aarthykc
  • iD Improve styling of task boundary in iD - @ramyaraghupathy
  • openstreetmap.in Style and content improvements to openstreetmap.in @geohacker @kepta
  • osmlab Mobile friendly OSM notes explorer @aarthykc @kepta
  • learnosm Website revamp https://github.com/hotosm/learnosm/issues/322
  • openstreetmap-website User blocks on OSM don't have an API yet. Currently, all user blocks are listed on here.

Contributor Tiles: [JS, HTML+CSS] App which highlights the map tiles where a particular mapper is the top contributor. We will be writing a tile-reduce processor for osm qa-tiles that will generate a new tileset with tile boundaries and statistics of the contributors for that tile. We will then need to render them on a simple GL frontend where the user can query a username and the tiles where the user has top contributions will get highlighted. Mentored by @planemad

Proposed Ideas

  • osm-experiments Expand SILPA dictionary for OSM data @arunsank
  • osm-api Ideas on core OSM API improvements http://www.asklater.com/matt/blog/2015/11/18/the-road-to-api-07
  • qa-tiles A map of OSM places that are missing a wikidata tag @planemad
  • osmlab Create a user friendly OSM diary reader @kepta
  • osmlab Interface to easily expand properties to multiple OSM objects (eg. wikidata tag to places that do not have them @kepta)
