Czech nature parks import

This page informs about upcoming import of "nature park" protected areas in the Czech Republic. Nature parks are created by regional government (kraj) and not by national government so the data is not available through the CDDA source from EEA as other national data for protected areas. However some local governments offer open data which can be used.

General information

Goal

Import all "nature parks" in the Chech Republic for which I will be able to secure source data. Missing nature parks may be created manually later.

Schedule

Import will be split into 2 parts because only some regions offer data publicly today. Start ASAP with regions that are ready (part 1) and continue with further parts (depends on when other regions will release their data).

There are 14 regions. Current status of regional sources is following:

• Pardubický kraj - PERMISSION GRANTED
• Olomoucký kraj
• Moravskoslezský kraj
• Jihomoravský kraj - PERMISSION GRANTED
• Zlínský kraj - data release promised (they need to check data first)
• Kraj Vysočina - PERMISSION GRANTED (EMAIL)

Software used

I will use QGIS to harvest data from original files and then JOSM to tag and manually upload it.

Tagging

Relation will be created for every single park and will be tagged (also with boundary=protected_area and protect_class=5). Ways and nodes will not be tagged at all. Tagging will be similar to other protected areas in Czech Rebulic - see existing example: https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/5370187
