A Ramsar site is a wetland site designated to be of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, also known as "The Convention on Wetlands", an intergovernmental environmental treaty established on 2nd February 1971 in Ramsar, Iran by UNESCO, which came into force from 21st December,1975. It provides for national action and international cooperation regarding the conservation of wetlands, and wise sustainable use of their resources. In Kerala We have 3 Ramsar areas Ashtamudi Wetland (61.4km2), Sasthamkotta Lake(3.73 km2), Vembanad-Kol Wetland(1512.5 km2). In this Project Planning to Map and Improve the map data in this Weland areas and create a boundary layer with consultation of local stake holders, community and mapping the wetlands with local names.
Describe the local challenge your project is addressing
Currently there is not ramsar tagged boundary data available in kerala area. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:ramsar Through Hybrid (Arm chair and Field visits) mapping with the help of local NGO which working towards the conservation of the wetlands and enable this data layer to public. The Main challenge is the volume of area and through hybrid mapping and local collaboration the project is planning to do.
Describe your project
Mapping the wetland areas, boundaries and improving the tags and names are the primary objective of this project. And the possible Roads, Waterways, Buildings Will Map and Validation will be do in field visiting areas.
For Planning, Visualization and Data Analysis purpose a boundary layer map is very important and currently there is no such data available in public domain or Free License.
Describe your sustainability plan
This project planing to do collaborations with local community groups and NGO's. Currently there are lot of projects happening in these Ramsar site, and output of our maps will reuse for the needs. capacity building and obtained mapping skills helps to maintain and mapping more areas by community.
What are your community-defined project goals, and how do you define project success?
Through this Effort, we checking data's of 1600 km2 (~4.2% of Kerala State) area data and doing cleanup and possible improvements. Establish Boundary Layer enable. Collabrations with 6 Local Communities and NGOs. Through Workshop and Fields visits 30 mappers will trained to OSM and Open Mapping.

We make Press Release in possible occasions. Write blogpost. Outreach in our Social Media Handles, Presentations in Offline meetups.
Partnerships
Collaborations with Environmental NGOs Who working in Conservation and Biodiversity Documentation. Research, Academic & Civic Organizations. Team VayalRaksha, Kerala Biodiversity Monitoring Network, Kole Birders Collective, River Research Center.
Describe who will use your data
These Wetlands are Vulnerable areas of the state and mostly flooding happening every year. These informations can use officials and district authorities better planning for the disaster management. Climate changes and sea level raise directly effecting these areas and these will be very important for the open research and availability of data. The boundary map will us by Kerala Biodiversity Monitoring Network For analysis their data and make dashboard.

Expansion
Successful applications will show how communities intend to grow community engagement. This includes a practical approach to how many new mappers you aim to recruit and how they will be involved in community activities. Priority will be given to communities that also include a plan for ongoing engagement beyond the grant period. If this is not relevant to your project, please explain why.
Project plan and budget
Priority will be given to applications that collaborate with other OSM communities in the region. This can be country-specific or regional and can include collaboration with Youth Mappers Chapters, or members of the HOT community to help with training, validation (as examples).
