Vision

Empowering women through open mapping for a positive change #She4She

Mission

To create a Zimbabwe where every girl has the opportunity to thrive, free from early marriage and school dropout, by fostering inclusive development through open mapping and promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for women.

Core Values

Open Mapping Remote Areas: We will utilize open-source mapping tools and technologies to map remote and underserved communities in Zimbabwe, focusing on areas with high prevalence of early child marriage and school dropout amongst girls.

Data-Driven Solutions

By collecting and analyzing spatial data, we will identify key factors contributing to these challenges, enabling informed decision-making and targeted interventions.

Advocacy and Awareness

We will raise awareness about early child marriage and school dropout, advocating for policies and practices that promote girls' education, empowerment, and well-being.

SDGs for Women:

We will integrate the SDGs for women into our mapping activities, ensuring that girls have equal access to education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and participation in decision-making processes.

Community Collaboration

We will work hand-in-hand with local communities, girls, government agencies, and civil society organizations to ensure the sustainability and impact of our initiatives.

Editing the map

Most remote mapping happens through the HOT Tasking Manager. Find all Ladies In Maps Zimbabwe projects here. In every Ladies In Maps Zimbabwe project clear instructions adapted to the context are provided.

Field data is collected with help of different tools: Osmand, Organic Maps, Kobotoolbox, Field Papers, etc.

We use the hashtags: #add here. For every individual activity an additional unique hashtag is used as well (see table below).

Active March 2024 - ongoing Mizoram State, India Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is supporting local communities as well as those who have been temporarily displaced to Mizoram state in India following the conflict in Myanmar. These provinces where MSF works in Mizoram state are amongst the most impoverished of the districts in North-eastern India. Water, health care and sanitation needs are quite high, and infrastructure was already very weak for the host population before the influx of thousands displaced people into the villages.

MSF aims to provide free and quality medical and mental health care to the communities in the area, while responding to any medical-humanitarian emergency that may occur in Mizoram State. Activities include mobile medical clinics, mental health support, water and sanitation support and distributions of non-food items such as kitchen utensils & blankets.
