Proposal

Add a new tag to Golf Course to indicate an area of the course is environmental and should be considered as such when applying rules of the course and/or when involved in an activity in which environmental rules apply.

Tag:golf=water hazard and Tag:golf=lateral water hazard elements should be updated to reflect improved use of this new tag.

Affects Key:golf

Rationale

Environmental areas have restrictions for use. Golf courses impose and during a golf activity rules are often in place regarding access in and around environmental areas. These rules are separate from but may overlap those of a hazard and/or penalty and therefore could be used in conjunction with other tags. The common term for a restricted section like this is "environmental area", which suggests the term area is not redundant.

Tag:golf=environmental_area

Tagging

Definition : An environmental area represents a section of the golf course with access restrictions and only sections classified as "environmental areas" should be tagged as such.

Tag : golf=environmental_area

Elements : area or line

Limitations : The tag environmental_area should not be used for any penalty area or hazard that is not classified as an environmental area.

Examples

This tag may be added to the Key:golf as golf=environmental_area

Rendering

Areas : If possible the area perimeter should consist of an outer red border and an inner green border where the red portion is visibly narrower than the green portion.

Lines : If possible the right side(furthest from the environmental area) of a line should be red and left side green where the red portion is visibly narrower than the green portion.
