e.g. to map the trees of alleys, because using "natural=wood" or "landuse=forest" doesn't make really sense ;) --Cbm 08:39, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

This seems to be related to Proposed features/Tree. How about combing both proposals into one?

Tag suggestion:

<tag k="natural" v="tree"/>
<tag k="trees" v="Number of trees, default is 1"/> Optional

For an unknown number of trees use -1. With this combination, we can have a single tree or complete alleys. If we have the exact number of trees, a rendere could split them evenly accross the area/alley (how is up to the rendere, but it shouldn't be difficult to come up with something).

As an additional tag Key:surface could be used to state what type of surface there is under the tree(s).
