Proposal

It is proposed to create the tag amenity=wave_lounger for use of mapping wave loungers as nodes in the openstreetmap database. These are similar to benches, but for resting in a more laid than sitting position.

Rationale

These amenities pop up all over the place. Municipal gardening departments as well as tourist industry groups seem to like them.

There is a similar tag, amenity=lounger, but it is very broad in how to map subject and what subject is for. Likely there are a number of wave loungers already mapped under this tag, but we will never know. Generalisation should be up to the cartographers and not the mappers.

Tagging

Place a node where the wave lounger is on the ground and add the tag amenity=wave_lounger. Add well known attributes, e.g. material, colour, width, &c. as appropriate. Capacity shall mean the number of persons a single item can accommodate.

Examples

WaveLounger in urban park Several wave loungers of capacity=1 in a park WaveLounger in rural setting A wave lounger of capacity=2 besides of a bench WaveLounger in tourist setting Several wave loungers mostly of capacity=2 on a platform WaveLounger in hiking setting A wave lounger of capacity=2 besides a hiking path

Rendering

An icon was proposed on the OSM Carto issue. But first things first.

Features/Pages affected

Create amenity=wave_lounger with content similar as in proposal and a link from amenity=bench
