Inconsistent and mixing different aspects

Except for information=visitor_centre , information=* is mostly about the physical scale, not including the content. So what you need is eg information=service_point (Why is not proper English? Customer service point surely is?) / information=help_point (to emphasize you can't receive full "service" here, only some help) + message=public_transport (borrowing from advertising=* to have something applicable to all information=* , unlike dedicated board_type=* for information=board ) to show it is smaller than information=office , and for what purpose.
However, overlaps needs to be checked with amenity=reception_point (the variant I prefer) / amenity=reception_desk / amenity=reception_area / amenity=reception , as they usually perform both duties in other features. —— Kovposch (talk) 17:55, 25 August 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback and detailed suggestions! Looks like my proposal wasn't good and I have to rework it.
The suggestions of rainerU and Kovposch sound promising:
tourism=information
information=helpdesk
helpdesk_type=public_transport

Let's not have the useless *_type=* suffix. It can be as generic and simple as help=public_transport , which could be usable elsewhere.

As possible alternative, office=information + subject=public_transport. Something B (talk) 13:39, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

subject=* is better left for freeform text and the exact entity. Eg subject=Deutsche Bahn . This issue has been discussed for marker=* , memorial*=* , museum*=* , and artwork*=* . Proposal_talk:Markers_subject_refinement .
