Port Harcourt is known as a Garden city and oil industry hub of Nigeria. It is a very amazing and attractive city for International events. Port Harcourt city has hosted many international events ranging from cultural, sports to professional conferences and workshops.

SOTM Port Harcourt Team

  1. Victor N. Sunday successfully organized and hosted a national conference of the Institute of Certified Geographers of Nigeria(ICGN) in 2010 and since then has been organizing and hosting professional training workshops in Port Harcourt, as the south-south coordinator of the Institute. He has also hosted a one state holder’s seminar in Osun State as the National Councilor of Nigerian Environmental Society. He was a member of the local organizing committee for National Conferences of the Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA) hosted in Port Harcourt in 2003 and 2014 respectively. He is the Coordinator of UniqueMappersTeam and a Voting Member of HOT.
  2. Chukwudubem Nzewi: Leads the student community of YouthMappers chapter and will be relevant in matters relating to students during any event.
  3. Prof.J.E.Umeuduji has served the University as the Head of Department of Geography and Environmental management in 2005 and 2013 respectively during which he facilitated the hosting of National Conference by Association of Nigerian Geographers.
  4. Assoc. Prof. Chibuogwu L.Eze is also a conference convener at various times in Nigeria and a professional trainer. He has the capacity to provide technical assistance to a successful Conference and represent both the private sector and the academia.
  5. Prof. Joshua U. Ogbonna-has traveled wide attending conferences outside the country as a GIS professor and has the capacity to provide a standard to a successful hosting of the conference.
  6. Dr. Shaba Halilu is the Director. Space Application, National Space Research Agency (NARSDA) Abuja, Nigeria. He is a constant conference convener and well experienced in GIS-based conferences and would provide the necessary capacity to government linkages to the conference, where, necessary
  7. Rev. Dr. Wokoma D.C.Wokoma-is a former President of Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA) and Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Nigeria. He is well vast and experienced in hosting conferences and will provide the necessary capacity for government partnership to the conference
  8. Prof. Chukwunonyelum Okpala-Okaka is the faculty advisor of LionMappersTeam-Enugu Campus. As a former Dean of the faculty, he has hosted conferences.
  9. Samuel Aiyeoribe-will provide necessary capacity support from the private sector and northern Nigeria
  10. Mrs. Ijeoma Ladele-Will also shares her wealth of experience and a woman activist and would provide the necessary capacity support for women welfare during the conference.
