The tag barrier=entrance defines an opening (a gap or hole) in a linear barrier=*. There is nothing to limit a passage through the barrier at this place, so access=yes is assumed. For entrances that are secured by a door, gate, or other means, use barrier=gate instead, even if it is never locked. If access on an entrance is restricted, add access tags.

  • entrance=* — used in single nodes, and describes an entry to something, generally a building or enclosed area. Unlike a barrier=entrance (and like barrier=gate), an entrance=* might be (and generally is) secured by a door, gate or other means.
