The main entrance of a building or enclosed area, where the people enter. Some building types like shopping mall have often more than one main entrance.

Not all buildings with a side entrance need to use entrance=main. This tag should only be used for the primary entrance to a building.

Use a different value for private buildings and residences, such as yes, home, service, staircase etc.

How to map

Add a node node at the building outline and tag it with entrance=main.

The addr:housenumber=* is sometimes added to the main entrance node if the building contains more than one address, and if it the address is not already used on another node in the building or on the building area itself. See Key:addr.
