Linking to books

Why make special links, when this wiki software supports the format ISBN 0596007035 ? --LA2 16:08, 19 Feb 2006 (UTC)

Well firstly the Special Books page kind of sucks (it's more intuitive to link straight to a store IMHO, but if we must be store-neutral then a template would be better). But mainly that the links that Steve used have an Amazon Associates ID embedded, so OpenStreetMap gets a kickback if people buy things after following that link. Do you know how to add an Amazon Associates ID to the special page? TomC 18:59, 19 Feb 2006 (UTC)
Just writing the ISBN number saves a lot of work. If you want affiliate links, just configure the Special Books page right, see the Mediawiki help page. --LA2 00:09, 20 Feb 2006 (UTC)
I agree that writing ISBN is easier, but I still maintain that the special books page is a bit rubbish. My vote for the OSM Books page is for a template which takes ISBN (as suggested on the help page you linked to). Having a separate page for each book is overkill. TomC 00:43, 20 Feb 2006 (UTC)
Yeah template would work well. Let's set it up so that all the links are amazon affiliate links. Seems like an obvious Fund Raising Idea. Should do the same on GPS Reviews page somehow. -- Harry Wood 11:46, 1 Aug 2006 (BST)

How can we integrate the result of http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/iandees/diary/15152 here? --Stephan75 17:01, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

I've added it on there. TODO: add front cover pic. Also apparently it will at some point be available on amazon -- Harry Wood 16:57, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
