Action block: name
What is the default behaviour if no Action for name is given? --Nop 16:30, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
This is the complete procedure that is used to set the name:
- If name-tag-list exists, then the 'name' tag is set to the value of the first tag in the list that exists.
- The rules are run.
- Apply default rule "name '${name}'"
- If name is still not set and there is default_name for the type, then use that.

List of Garmin type codes for lines?
Where is the list of Garmin type codes? I see that in mkgmap/resources/garmin_feature_list.csv there is a list of Garmin type codes for points and polygons but what about lines? ChrisB 15:26, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- You can find a list in the cGPSMapper manual, chapter 12.3. See also the middle of this page--csdf 11:37, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Avoid highways
A few test I ran on my etrex vista and their results:
type | class | speed | resolution | result |
0x01 | 4 | 7 | 14 | Avoid |
0x03 | 3 | 4 | 19 | Avoid |
0x04 | 2 | 3 | 20 | Avoid |
0x06 | 0 | 2 | 22 | Take |

- What exactly are you testing? csdf 20:12, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Level vs resolution
I suspect that most newbie's can't understand why mkgmap offers both the level and the resolution nomenclature. Would it be a good idea to standardise all the documentation around one or the other? I personally prefer resolution, but am open to either as long as it is consistent. csdf 20:12, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
